In today's world full of convenient, beautiful, and new things, each individual consumer has not only the right, but also the responsibility to choose. Also, for things like clothing which is used and discarded in large quantities, individuals are faced with responsibilities related to their disposal. Furthermore, these issues must be properly recognized by those involved in production and distribution of these goods.
In order to be active in today's society as a clothing specialist, and as both a wise consumer and a responsible member of society, it is necessary to properly understand an abundance of new products, materials, designs, production methods, and distribution methods.
The Department of Clothing and Textiles provides an opportunity to explore clothing from a broad perspective and with a human-centric approach, allowing students to develop a deep understanding of the area. In the first year, students take the department’s basic courses: (1) Textile materials, (2) Fashion and art, (3) Information/manufacturing, (4) Business, (5) Visual communication, and (6) Culture. In the second year, depending on their field of interest, students will advance to either the Clothing and Textiles Course or the Fashion Environment and Management Course to pursue specialized studies. Students will select the course before advancing to the second year. (Note: This two-course system will be implemented for students who enrolled in April 2022 and beyond.)
We cultivate students who may aspire to work as researchers for textile inspection agencies or be active as central figures in the apparel industry.
