We require our students to cultivate rich and flexible imaginations and problem-solving skills, by giving them knowledge necessary to live together with other peoples and cultures. By learning sociology, and acquiring a sense of refinement based on a broad interest in society, one gains the skills to shape a society full of peaceful and happy people. By systematically and accurately teaching social psychology and clinical psychology, we aim to cultivate conscientious and sensitive people who understand human relationships.
The first priority of 20th century mankind was the pursuit of physical wealth, and people lived every day in fierce competition. As a result, humans brought many disasters upon themselves, such as war and environmental destruction. The 21st century should be the century when people learn to coexist, and respect each other's differences. For that to happen, a new "commonality" must be constructed. To nurture women with their own firm opinions, who are conscious of the 21st century challenges studied in sociology, is the educational goal of this department.
Through the study of social psychology and clinical psychology, we aim to train students to become graduates who can contribute to the development of a truly harmonious society, by teaching the ability to nurture human relations, and how to recognize and logically analyze social and behavioral problems.
Specifically, we nurture logical thinking skills, problem solving skills, and computer literacy through empirical research such as experiments and surveys; as well as fostering the development of empathy, self-analysis, and assertiveness through clinical psychology training.
