In 2018, the university celebrated the 110th anniversary of its founding. This was an opportunity to look back on the state of its education and learning. The university then took a first step toward a new way of thinking in order to put into practice a Junior College compatible with the times.
We are committed to not simply be content with our long tradition, but to constantly reaffirm the school's philosophy under the spirit of the school motto, "Haji-wo-Shire" (translation: "appreciate humility") and for students and faculty alike to strive toward education that seeks to achieve the noblest human aspirations.
This school, while being conscious of its bright tradition, and yet remaining mindful of the need for quest for daily improvement, continues to develop its educational activities to cultivate students who will become graduates who can respond to the drastic changes in modern society. We expect our graduates to benefit from an education aimed towards mutual service and self-recognition as a member of society, based on the educational philosophy of our founder, Mrs. Kotaka Otsuma: the cultivation of women with practical science.
The Junior College's educational policy, as in its school regulations, is to cultivate students who will acquire the skills to necessary for higher education, occupations, and daily life.
Through globalization, the pervasive influence of information technology and social network connectivity, society is changing greatly. Our mission is to cultivate students who will graduate to become good family members and professionals with independent minds with the skills and knowledge to respond to this new era.
